Restoration of the Peter Burr House
Restoration of West Virginia's oldest standing wood frame structure continues. Learn about the house's unusual features and ongoing restoration efforts.

   

Acquisition and Restoration of the Jefferson County Alms House
Built in 1813 as a plantation home, "Snow Hill" was converted into the county "Poor House" in 1858. One of the property owners has offered this National Register site to the Landmarks Commission. Red tape has slowed acquisition and repairs are sorely needed.

Archeology at the Peter Burr Site
Archeology for the year will focus on the Peter Burr Farm to complement restoration efforts.

Construction of 18th Century Bread Oven
A replica of an 18th century outdoor brick oven is under construction at the Peter Burr Living History Farm.  Scheduled for completion in September 2003, it will be used for interpretative programs at the site and to create delicious artisan bread for sale.

Fall Barn Tour
We have started documenting the six barns that will be included on the October 4th and 5th 2003. Barn Tour. Volunteers are needed for the survey effort.
