York Hill Barn, 1812

This large stone barn was constructed of native blue limestone in 1812. It is 70 feet long and 30 feet wide, and  the heavy superstructure is of oak. Slits are found in the stone walls on the south, west, and north sides. These slits are narrow on the outside and wide on the inside. On the lower level, window like openings still have shutter like coverings.

Owned by the Hockman family, the barn is surrounded by apple orchards and has been modified to support this agricultural operation.

The barn will host a dance and barbecue on Saturday evening, October 4th.  Admission is free to Barn Tour Ticket holders (dinner extra).
