Barn at Linden Spring Farm, ca. 1790

Located between Moler's Cross Roads and Shepherdstown, this magnificent old barn is being restored by owners Mike and Jane Ishman.  It is thought to be build about the same time as the stone house at Linden Spring, which was constructed circa 1793 by Captain William Lucas, the father of Robert Lucas (the first governor of Iowa Territory.)

This is a distinctive Sweitzer (Swisser) type of barn that illustrates the contribution of German settlers to Jefferson County's architectural heritage.

Visitors will have a chance to talk to the barn owners about the ongoing restoration process as well as their plans to incorporate the structure into contemporary agricultural operations.
